Heritage Day we celebrated with our beloved customers. We celebrated braai, bras, family, and the humble Katemba. We gave away hundreds of Katembas from fairly early in the day, and the vibe was unparalleled as far as butcheries go.
When offering people a Katemba, I often get the sense that some view it as complete w**e blasphemy. A sacrilegious act, adulterating the holy juice. But I beg to differ. I grew up with a grandfather who had a vine in his back garden. Although his w**e was made with love, it was rough and distinctive. The one thing that the Catawba varietal had in abundance was alcohol content, and I suspect diluting it on a long afternoon was critical in delaying its anaesthetic effect.
Anyway, those were special days. MHDSRIP.
Thank you to everyone who celebrated and supported us!
