Carbohydrates overload is one of the major reasons we gain weight. Our bodies are supposed to take about 225 to 325 grams of carbs a day but we usually take in that much or more in one meal. We most likely eat 3 meals a days and grab high-carb snacks such as energy bars or potato chips. By the end of the day we have, likely, taken in more than 1000 grams of carbs. So, naturally the body will convert those carbs into needed energy and store the rest as fat for future energy. Since we are not running around chasing wild animals to eat and prefer to stay put instead of walks, runs or gym, that stored fat never gets used and when we eat the next day we simply add to that fat count. And, that's how we get obese.
