Lambgate is still in session.
“How would you like your lamb?” Yudhika asked.
“Apparently, we’d like it at R129, including rice or roti,” replied the community.
“Thank you very much,” she said!
At this point, everyone is invested in Lambgate. Our customers, our community, our suppliers, people who’ve never tasted our lamb and quite a few who probably never will.
And my goodness, we have covered some ground.
We’ve discussed customer behaviour, business behaviour, lamb prices, portion sizes, reheating, food costs, my hair follicles, my dress sense and, over in some of the more conservative corners of social media, my apparent fondness for using “fresh milk” in absolutely everything I cook and bake.
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah… I saw that too and there were a few aunties who said , “Amaadah” and offered to turn salt to ward of the bad eyes.
Somehow, through this incredibly thorough investigation into a 500g container of lamb curry, we’ve also sold an extraordinary amount of lamb.
Our suppliers are thrilled. We’re buying more, which gives us better buying power, which means we can negotiate harder and pass some of that back to you. There’s actually a little economics lesson buried beneath all the hair, milk and lamb.
So, because loads of you missed it:
500g lamb curry + 200g rice OR 2 rotis: R129. WhatsApp your orders on 0609885003
Still cold. Still cooking. Lambgate still simmering.
At this point, I’m not entirely sure whether we’re running a takeaway, an economics class or a national conversation. But lunch is R129. 😂
