Dealing with the challenges of gardening in the North West Province! My vegetable garden, which was flourishing just six weeks ago, has been cleared due to persistent water shortages caused by load shedding. 💧

The issue seems to be that the Orkney reservoir pumps aren't restarting after power outages, leaving my garden high and dry. I'm determined to overcome this, and drilling a borehole is now my top priority! 🛠️

In the meantime, the soil will rest and be enriched with compost, preparing for a vibrant regrowth. Stay tuned for updates on my borehole project and the garden's revival!

The preparation of eighteen bottles of pickled onions and thirteen bottles of pickled radishes is now complete. The only remaining task is to blanch the radishes. I expect the initial bean harvest to take place within the next week.

This garden had me calling my garden engineer in a panic "Simon you must come, the radishes needs to be harvested, the unions must be harvested, the tomato and cucumber needs to be tied to the saplings to rank, and I'm still working!"

Radishes. Not the initial harvest of the season, I might add. The first ones we prepared were akin to baked potatoes, a truly delightful experience. These will likely end up similar to mashed potatoes. Freshly picked from our own garden.
