31st August - It's offically the last day of winter, and what a glorious day it is.

Across the vineyards, our cover crops are thriving between the rows, protecting and nourishing the soil, encouraging biodiversity and quietly preparing the land for the growing season ahead.

There are wines you taste, and wines you take a moment with. Samsara 2019 is one of those wines.

Crafted from 100% Syrah, it is a beautiful expression of Avondale’s terroir, with layers of dark berries, black cherry and plum, balanced by notes of cedar, spice, cracked black pepper and graphite. Elegant, structured and made to linger, Samsara is a wine to savour slowly.

There’s life between the vines.

Our Angus cows are making the most of the vineyard cover crops, grazing naturally between the vines while playing their part in Avondale’s living ecosystem.

Cover crops help protect and nourish our soils, and grazing allows their nutrients to be cycled naturally back into the earth through the cattle. At the same time, they help us manage vegetation without unnecessary intervention.

It’s another example of how everything at Avondale works together, vines, animals, plants and soil, as part of our holistic approach to farming.
