Harties Market is an outdoor market that is perfectly perched below the magnificent Magaliesberg Mountain, just outside Johannesburg. This outdoor market is set on rolling lawns, under the shade of large trees, creating an idyllic spot for groups of friends and family to get together on a Saturday morning and enjoy the fresh air of a South African day in Hartbeespoort, Gauteng.

The Harties Market showcases the arts, crafts and delicious dishes of a host of hand-picked vendors, who are chosen based on quality, innovation and meeting customer demand. There is a play area for little ones too, leaving parents to relax as they watch their kids enjoy the fun. So, a day at the market is always fun for young and old alike.

Hand-made arts and crafts are on offer for those wanting unique mementoes and reminders of their time in South Africa. These goodies include mosaics, wooden crafts, beautiful jewellery and gorgeous décor items for the home.

In addition, there are fantastic food stalls that boast lamb on the spit, gourmet wraps, smoked pork belly, hearty Mexican fare, biltong, homemade preserves, Turkish delight, nougat, chocolates, and the South African favourite, vetkoek. There are also stalls at which some excellent South African wines and cold beers are available, creating a really laid-back vibe in which visitors can let their hair down and relax.

Other nearby attractions include the Hartbeespoort Snake Park, the Monkey Sanctuary and the Harties Cableway, which promises breath-taking views of the Hartbeespoort Dam and the Magaliesberg Mountain Range. The little town of Hartbeespoort is quiet during the week, but comes alive on weekends, creating a great vibe in which to relax and have fun.
