From his early days on the mill floor to becoming a trusted Fitter and Crane Operator, Richard Mbango Sigudhla’s journey is one of resilience, growth, and quiet excellence. His story is not just about the years he’s given, but the knowledge he’s shared, the standards he’s upheld, and the legacy he continues to build.

As we celebrate Years That Matter, we honour employees like Richard who have shaped our business through their commitment, their craft, and their willingness to pass the baton to the next generation.

Because it’s not only about how long you’ve been here, but also about the difference you make along the way.

The Be Number 1 campaign did more than create a brand moment, it created real opportunity. Two up-and-coming South African designers were given the chance to bring the Number 1 Mageu packaging to life, turning creativity into something visible and meaningful.

At its heart, the campaign invited South Africans to co-create with the brand through art and self-expression, celebrating community voice and everyday talent.

From packaging to digital, instore and experiential touchpoints, it came together as one connected brand experience rooted in people and purpose.

This campaign has now been awarded Bronze at the SMARTIES South Africa Awards in the Omnichannel Marketing category. A proud moment for Number 1 Mageu and RCL FOODS.

While the action at Selati Cup unfolds on the field, another kind of impact takes shape around it.

From stadium conversations and pledge boards to sharing resources and encouraging meaningful dialogue, our BaBonise Ambassadors, made up of passionate RCL FOODS Sugar employees, have been using the platform of the Selati Cup to champion positive fatherhood and active male role models. Their message is simple but powerful: children thrive when the men in their lives choose to be present, engaged and involved.

Thank you to every Ambassador helping to create brighter futures, one conversation at a time.

One loaf can go a long way.

Sunbake's Back-To-School campaign invited consumers to nominate schools with every loaf purchased, turning everyday shopping into an opportunity to make a difference.

This year, Khula Primary School received a R500 000 classroom upgrade, while four schools received solar panel installations worth R200 000 each, helping create brighter, more reliable spaces for learning.

Together, we’re helping grow communities and create opportunities for the next generation, one school at a time.

Match days also support local vendors, traders and small businesses, adding to the energy and impact around every fixture.

In 2017, a simple belief brought The Do More Foundation to life, that real change for children and communities in South Africa happens when we do more, together.

What started as a dream has grown into 8 059 000 meals donated that have fed 47 458 young children in 1 379 ECD centres located in 8 provinces, in this past year alone.

Because impact like this is never created in isolation. It takes collaboration across business, government, media, philanthropists, and communities, all working together with one purpose in mind: growing communities, and with them, a better future.
