π¨ RABIES POSTIVE CASE CONFIRMED π¨
"This dog didn't look rabid."
A rabies-positive case has recently been confirmed after a stray dog was brought to Hillcrest Veterinary Hospital and submitted for testing.
The dog did not present with the classic signs many people associate with rabies. It was weak, emaciated and clearly unwell. This serves as an important reminder that rabies does not always look the way people expect it to.
Rabies remains one of the few diseases that is fatal once clinical signs develop. Yet it is also entirely preventable through routine vaccination.
Every unvaccinated pet is a risk.
Protect your pets, your family and your community by ensuring your dogs and cats are vaccinated and that their vaccinations remain up to date.
To support responsible pet ownership and improve community protection, Hillcrest Veterinary Hospital will be hosting a Rabies Vaccination Drive on 5 July 2026.
Further details will be announced shortly.
