How gorgeous are these candy beets from Fountains Herb Farm.

Candy beets, also known as Chioggia or candy cane beets, are an heirloom Italian root vegetable famous for their striking red-and-white concentric rings and a sweet, mild flavour.

Eat them raw, roasted or glazed.

Raw: Slice them thin or shred them to show off the colourful spiral pattern in fresh salads.
Roasted: Roast them whole or quartered with olive oil and salt to bring out their natural sugars.
Glazed: Toss cooked beet cubes in a pan with melted butter, brown sugar, and a splash of citrus or orange zest for a candied side dish.

Why shop in supermarkets when our Fountains Herb Farm broccoli comes straight to you! Tenderstem broccoli is a nutritious, versatile vegetable with a lovely sweet flavour and tender stalks — and the best part is that you can eat almost the whole thing! 🌱

🥦 Why eat Tenderstem Broccoli?

High in vitamins C & K – supports immunity and healthy bones.

Good source of fibre – great for digestion.

Contains antioxidants and other plant compounds.

Lower in calories but very satisfying.

The stalks are tender, so there’s very little waste.

🍋 Delicious ways to use it

Roast: Toss with olive oil, salt & pepper and roast until slightly charred. Finish with lemon juice and Parmesan.

Pan-fry: Quickly sauté with garlic, olive oil and chilli flakes.

Steam: Keep it bright green and slightly crunchy, then add butter, lemon and seasoning.

Stir-fry: Add to Asian-style dishes with soy, ginger, garlic and sesame.

Pasta: Toss with pasta, garlic, olive oil, Parmesan and lemon.

Salads: Blanch briefly, cool and combine with feta, toasted almonds and a lemon dressing.

BBQ: Drizzle with olive oil and grill until charred — absolutely delicious!

Tip: Don’t overcook it. Tenderstem is best when it remains bright green with a little crunch. 🌿

The AMAZING BROAD BEAN!

Fresh broad beans are best cooked simply. Young beans can be eaten whole, while larger beans are delicious peeled after cooking.

Some ideas from the Fountains Herb Farm kitchen!
✨ Garlic, Lemon & Olive Oil
Blanch for 2–3 minutes, then toss with olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, salt & pepper. Finish with Parmesan.

🥗 Broad Bean & Feta Salad
Broad beans + feta + mint + spring onions + lemon + olive oil. Add rocket or watercress.

🥑 Broad Bean Dip
Blend cooked beans with lemon, garlic, olive oil, salt & pepper. Delicious with toasted sourdough.

🍞 Broad Beans on Toast
Mash with olive oil, lemon, salt & pepper. Top with feta, Parmesan or a poached egg.

🍝 Broad Bean Pasta
Toss with garlic, lemon, Parmesan, olive oil and fresh herbs. Delicious with crispy pancetta.

🌱 Broad Bean & Pea Mash
Mash with mint, lemon and olive oil or butter – perfect with grilled fish or lamb.

Don’t overcook them! Fresh broad beans are at their best when just tender and still bright green.
