🔸 1. Plan Housing Around Sow Numbers
The size of your unit is best determined by the number of sows you keep. Since a sow can farrow twice annually, your housing should accommodate pregnant sows, farrowing sows, nursing piglets, growers, and finishers—all at the same time. Forecast how many pigs will be in each category to ensure your facility never gets overcrowded.
