We are Community Benefit Society which sells:

Wholefoods and world foods
Homebrew supplies
Spices We are South Wales' best kept culinary and brewing secret.

This shop is an Aladdin's Cave of spices, herbs, dried fruit, grains, pulses, bread, sauces, nuts, noodles, rice.... all ethically sourced. We also sell a range of local and Welsh products including honey and jam. We sell our items loose where possible so that you can bring your own containers in to refill. We are also South Wales' premier supplier of home-brew equipment. So whether it is ale, stout, lager, cider, wine or spirits, we can help you brew sustainably and at a fraction of the cost. Check out our range of loose eco friendly household cleaning goods and toiletries. A must for vegetarians and vegans, chefs, cooks and everyone interested in sustainable food sources. Helpful and friendly advice from the welcoming staff is also included.

Could you help run an ethical business?

Pete’s Shop is a not-for-profit Community Benefit Society run by members of the community, for the community. Any profits are invested back in the shop or community. We are an ethical business, buying mainly from a worker’s cooperative wholesaler, promoting vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, and healthy foods and sourcing from small, local producers.

We are looking for new directors, particularly those with experience in marketing or bookkeeping/treasury. Our board of directors believe in the aims and values of the shop and volunteer their time to make decisions about how we operate. Directors also assist with events and the twice yearly stocktake.

We have an annual social event and get to attend the occasional open day with our suppliers.

No previous experience as a director is needed - this could be your opportunity to gain valuable experience in a relaxed and informal environment. We really welcome a diversity of backgrounds and experience on our board because it will make us stronger.

This is an unpaid role with a time commitment of 1 day a month, which includes a monthly online evening meeting, and other ad hoc activities.

Welsh eco-toilet paper producers Ty Mor have rebranded as Lulu, making environmentally friendly toilet roll at a reasonable price.

After experimenting with Monday openings for a month, we will be resuming our normal schedule of remaining closed on Sundays and Mondays (Christmas week excepted).

From our experiment it looks like it would not be financially viable to open on Mondays.
