If you’re new around here, hi! We’re Payton & Aubrey, the husband and wife behind Smith Creek Farmstead. And since we’ve had quite a few new faces lately, we thought it was about time you actually got to know the people behind all the madness.

We met when Payton was stationed in Kentucky, spent some time in Nashville, and eventually made our way down to Georgia, where he’s from. I got my degree in Agricultural Economics from UK, and when Payton isn’t doing HVAC, he’s usually building whatever wild idea I’ve come up with next.

We’re a small micro dairy operation with registered Nigerian Dwarf goats, homesteading on less than two acres alongside our chickens, most notably our Silkies, Serama, and Orpingtons.

Smith Creek Farmstead really started after covid, when we both made some pretty big changes to our diets because the food we were eating was making us feel terrible. Around the same time, we kept having reactions to the detergents and products we were using. That’s when it really clicked for us: what we put on our bodies matters just as much as what we put in them.

So I started making soap for us. No artificial fragrances, no artificial dyes, just quality oils, our own goats milk, and herbal infusions. What started as something for our own household has grown into goat milk soaps, laundry powder, solid dish soap, herbal goods, and an operation that now reaches customers online, through wholesale, and through private labeling.

When we aren’t making soap, you’ll probably find us gaming, gardening, or getting some much needed goat therapy.

We’re genuinely so thankful for every person we’ve met along the way, whether you found us through goats, chickens, gardening, a farmers market, or a bar of our soap. Every one of you has become a small part of this wild life we’re building.

And honestly, whether you ever buy a single thing from us or not, we hope SCF reminds you that you’re capable of more than you think. You don’t have to do things the way everyone else does them. Think outside the box. Learn something new. Make it yourself. Build the life you want. Be self-sufficient, be independent, and don’t be afraid to try something a little different.

We’re still figuring it all out ourselves, but we’re having a heck of a time doing it.

Thanks for sticking around, supporting us, laughing with us, and letting us share a little piece of our life with you. We’re excited to see what comes next. 🖤

Clean Linen is one of those scents I never get tired of. I love that fresh laundry smell, just not all the artificial fragrance that usually comes with it.

This bar (and our laundry powder) is scented with essential oils to give you that same fresh, clean feeling.

We just made another batch, but it’ll be curing for a couple weeks. We still have a few bars on the site left.

Ahhh, scurs. Every goat owner’s nemesis. 😂

Scurs are small, horn growths that can develop in goats who were disbudded as kids when a little horn tissue was left behind. They can grow in funky ways and sometimes dangerously towards their skull. Some will eventually flake off on their own, while others may need to be removed by a vet.

Marley had one that decided it was going to grow towards her face, so I went ahead and made a vet appointment after waiting for it to flake off with no luck.

Fast forward to the week of her appointment… I go out to check on her and WHAT DO I SEE? No scur! 😂

Apparently Marley decided she didn’t feel like making me spend the money after all. It’s not every day your goats SAVE you money, but I’ll take the win. Thank you, ole Marley girl!🖤

Only the best for our employees! It's garden clean out day which means we seperate all the leftovers into three groups...for the goats, for the chickens and for the compost!

Today the goats got to enjoy the majority of the greens but you can hear our turkeys in the background announcing the freshly delivered treats!

What's your biggest fear? Mine is playing "Whats in the box" with a broody silkie💀

Mrs. Puff is normally a sweetheart but today she's made it her goal to hoard every egg between here and Timbuktu. So if you're in need of some hatching eggs let me know, we have plenty to share (even if she thinks otherwise)🤣

Graduation day for the Lavender Silkies!

Bittersweet, but I’m sure they’d much rather be outside with the rest of their brethren than stuck in the soap room during a soap-making jam session.

And for those curious, their DNA results are in from Silkie Acres DNA Lab. Apparently it’s a sausage fest over here. Three boys and one girl🤣 HOWEVER, If you've been wanting to DNA test but wasn't sure where to go....send them her way and take the guesswork out of chicken keeping! She does more than chickens as well, and testing our turkeys are just as easy!
