The Local Collective Market is honored to be a member of the West Virginia Food Is Medicine Coalition. Today and tomorrow, we are attending the WV Food Is Medicine Summit. We’re listening to leaders, learning from experts, and building connections to strengthen the Food Is Medicine movement across West Virginia - including little, rural communities just like ours.

I’m proud to be in such a collaborative space, and I’m proud to bring this goodness back home to our community. 🤍

On Thursday, August 27th, we will be setting up at Jess Brown Hall for a public, community project proposal‼️

Join us to learn how this project will allow The Local Collective Market to reinforce our local food system, strengthen emergency preparedness, support local producers, expand educational programming, and improve access to nutritious foods - all through one sustainable, delicious community asset. 🫐🫐🫐

👉🏽 Community Voting:
Event attendees who wish to vote make a $5 donation to receive one ballot from the Wetzel-Tyler Chamber of Commerce.
• Voting is limited to one ballot per attendee.
• Voters must be at least 18 years old.
• Ballots will be collected after all applicants have completed their presentations.
• Early voting is not permitted.

👉🏽 Doors open to the public at 5:30 p.m.
Contestants will have 30 minutes to speak individually with attendees and answer questions before the formal presentations begin at 6:00 p.m.

👉🏽 Contestants begin formal presentations at 6:00 p.m.
Each contestant receives three minutes to present its project or program and two minutes to answer questions from the audience.

If we have learned anything from our crazy Market journey, it's that we can do anything with YOUR support. We hope to see you there‼️

While our board president is out climbing ancient volcanic rock remnants to gawk at poisonous sea urchins in the Caribbean, we are holding the fort down at home! 🥬🌽🥦 If you’re out and about, take a loop around the city circle to see our construction crew 🚧🏗️ getting right to it!

Many have inquired about showing them the community’s appreciation for taking the project on urgently - and with the care our community deserves. We invite you to yell THANK YOU and/or drop some water off for the crew at the city building. Let Heather know it’s for them. She has graciously offered to make sure it’s there when they need it.

Of course, we ask you PLEASE MAINTAIN A SAFE DISTANCE away from the building as it is AN ACTIVE CONSTRUCTION SITE‼️ If you’ve heeded our warnings, caution and danger tape, private property signs, barriers, and purple tape - 👏🏽 thank you! If you forgot your ParMar bag, receipt (…with a time stamp), and CokaCola Zero inside 👀👀👀 don’t worry - we threw it away for you. We do suggest you heed this warning to stay out, though. ☺️

Construction crews move in THIS WEEK and WE WANT YOUR INPUT‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️

Unfortunately, when we demolished the necessary party of the future market building we found out there was no brick structure behind the front wall. Big bummer 😅 but we’ll run with it…

We’re a small town, West Virginian nonprofit (meaning, no big Bloomberg bucks over here). We’re thankful for what we have and are working within those parameters. With that being said… how does the community feel about this ✨updated✨ concept image?? Yes, no, maybe so?

Our garage door will serve as a loading dock for larger vendors, the main breakaway door for compliance, and the double sliding glass door for community events. (….and maybe to utilize for future developments 🪄🧙🏼‍♀️ you never know what we have up our sleeves!)
